Teaching as a Professor of Practice at Georgia State University Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII), I share the production process with students, teaching them the potential of new technologies while grounded in story structure and animation/film production.
Using my own experience working in the industry, I teach the students a full production process with a hands-on approach to realize their full potential. It’s all about telling the most impactful, visually engaging stories while building a portfolio of work.
I teach a multi-class program centered around designing for creative media, to lay a foundation for design-centered careers for my students and connect my classes to cross-disciplinary collaborations and signature experiences that connect to real-world projects.
Current classes include:
- Motion Graphics Design
- Designing Immersive Story Experiences
- Foundations of UX Design
- Cross-Media Design
I teach at GSU’s Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII), which was formed to strengthen connections between arts and media students and the region’s creative industries. The key CMII mission is to contribute to Atlanta’s emergence as a global creative capital by training a next generation of digital storytellers. A $22.8 million Woodruff Foundation gift made in 2014, the largest grant or gift in GSU history, that enabled the quick launch of these programs and the full renovation of a three-story facility at the heart of campus into a creative media/arts center. Students who take classes through CMII thus have access to world-class technology systems for content creation. More than $5+ million has been invested to install state of the art optical, motion, volumetric, and 360-degree capture systems.
